Goodness

I was touched by the goodness of God this morning as He met me in His word. While reading Psalm 103 I was overcome with His special love. I prayed that anyone who might read this would also be touched by His goodness today...and deeply feel His love.

My favorite passage in the Chronicles of Narnia series is in the first book when the children are with Mr. & Mrs. Beaver. Susan asks, in regards to Aslan, "Is he safe?". To which Mrs. Beaver replies, "Aslan? Safe? No, he's not safe. But he is good.". It's like that with God. The journey of faith takes us high on the mountaintops--where peering down from that dizzying height is both thrilling and trepidatious. At times the journey takes us to deep valleys of shadow and angst. Here our perspective is narrowed by force; but if our hearts remain open, we discover the stream of living water, and walk along its fertile grounds. Not always feeling very safe...but knowing deep inside that it is still good.

God believes in our dreams. He puts them in our hearts. He can do the most impossible thing if we join His path toward fulfilling them. He wants what is best for us, always. God loves us...always has and always will.

Through His strength and love we have the opportunity to love and encourage one another. We're all in this together. Our lives are intertwined for a reason. Our mission is to care for the people around us--in its many forms--and in so doing see glimpses of the Divine here on earth. Mercy and grace in action...as we receive what we don't deserve, and are not inflicted with what we do deserve.  God's goodness in action.

Psalm 103:11 "For as high as the heavens are above the earth so great is His love for those who fear Him"
